Vodafone serves up a ‘Check-in & Chips’ experience to keep first time festival goers connected this summer

A huge 57% of young people headed off to a festival this summer, with nearly a third (29%) of 16-18-year-olds attending without their family for the first time making festivals a key rite of passage for young Brits.

But while 92% of parents trusted their kids to make good decisions at festivals, 65% still admitted to feeling nervous about them heading off, with nearly three quarters (74%) eagerly awaiting updates throughout the weekend.

This festival season, we teamed up with Vodafone and broadcaster Zoe Ball to help young festivalgoers stay connected with home, launching the first ever ‘Check-in & Chips’ experience at Reading Festival. Festivalgoers could send a quick video message home using Vodafone’s 5G+ and, in return, get a free portion of chips – a win for parents and their teens!

We teamed up with festival veteran Zoe Ball to launch the experience, whose own daughter Nelly was attending Reading, giving young people an easy (and tasty) reason to check in, while giving parents the reassurance they were looking for thanks to the Vodafone network. Watch the video below for more.
