Brits pride themselves on their sense of humour. Turns out, though, we might not be that funny after all. Yeah – we know, just when you thought February couldn’t get any bleaker. Let us explain: there’s a Cheez-It-shaped light at the end of this tunnel…
As part of Cheez-It’s new creative platform, which focuses on the cultural playground of comedy, our latest campaign has exposed the UK’s ‘Giggle Gap’: the fact that 66% of Brits consider themselves funny, but 38% say they’re desperate for a good laugh. See the problem?
Our research also revealed that there’s a North/ South divide when it comes to being funny, and that Liverpool is officially the UK’s LOL-est city.
To ensure joy reached the masses, we created The Comedy Credits Service, giving people the opportunity to win a wide range of comedy-based prizes, from Ticketmaster vouchers to laughter yoga and comedy therapy sessions.
We kicked things off by teaming up with comedian Jason Manford to bring some much-needed joy to the streets through a shareable video and social content that kept the conversation alive online.
Check out the laughs below, then try and lighten up – the clocks go forward in about six weeks.
