It’s official: we Brits are head over heels for our canine companions according to research we're launching on behalf of East Midlands Trains.

Half of UK dog owners would rather holiday with their four-legged friend than their partner. An additional one in two would outright refuse to go on vacation without their pets, reveals the study which is part of our “Dog Train-ing” campaign aiming to grow brand love and public affection for the rail operator.

We used the study to spark a wider brand marketing campaign, with East Midlands Trains now rolling out a range of pup-friendly provisions, including dog bowls at main stations and doggie treats like donuts on board, to make travelling with pooches even easier.

And to help broadcast the message that trains are the number one option for transporting man’s best friend, we engaged the help of one of Britain’s leading dog behaviourists, Colin Tennant, to create the “Dog Train-ing” guide, designed to help make travelling with four-legged friends as easy and as passenger-friendly as possible.
